Rotterdam venue Weelde to close after four years

- Rotterdam cultural space Weelde is closing its doors after this weekend. In a statement seen by Resident Advisor, the multi-purpose venue explained that it has to "make way for a brand-new residential area" as its contract hasn't been extended. "Although we're thankful that we were given the opportunity to set up our enterprise here, it still feels strange that after all these years of hard work we will now be left with nothing," the statement continued. "Housing is important, but free spaces and night culture are equally important to a city." Weelde will host one final party this weekend. The likes of Ehua, Kikelomo, Intergalactic Gary, Kessler and Moody Mehran are billed to perform across the 32-hour event. Located on a picturesque estate on the edge of the city, Weelde includes a restaurant, wine bar, urban beach and countless event spaces. Since launching in 2019, it's hosted artists such as I-F, Kia, DJ Voices, ISAbella and DJ Marfox. Find out more from the event listing below.
