  • Beloved Chicago DJ Teri Bristol has died aged 66. Confirmed by friends on social media, Bristol died on the night of Monday, September 25th, due to kidney failure after years of struggling with the illness. In January 2020, she was hospitalised in Tennessee for end-stage kidney failure. A GoFundMe was set up to help with her hospital bills after undergoing surgery and dialysis. Bristol began DJing in Chicago in the late '80s and has been credited for paving the way for women DJs. As a resident-turned-music director at Crobar, she ran inclusive LGBTQIA+ nights and developed the Glee Club party with Val Scheinpflug (AKA DJ Psycho-Bitch). Listen to one of Bristol's sets from Crobar in 1993, and read some social media tributes.
