  • Moog parent company InMusic has reportedly laid off a large portion of employees from Moog's manufacturing factory in Asheville, North Carolina. More than half of staff members have been let go according to Asheville Citizen Times, with Synth Anatomy suggesting that production will be relocated to Asia. Moog has since addressed the situation in a statement posted to Instagram. "These changes are necessary for the future of Moog as we continue to face the ongoing challenges of manufacturing electronic instruments in America," the post read. "We're grateful for the passion and care you have shown us. We ask that you please continue to show consideration to our employees and keep an open mind as we put the finishing touches on some of our most innovative instruments yet." The overhaul comes after Moog was bought by inMusic, a US firm that owns many other instrument, audio and DJ brands, back in June. Prior to the acquisition, staff controlled 49 percent of the company, but were bought out in the transfer. Moog brand director Logan Kelly previously told Resident Advisor that "nothing is changing," and the firm will "still build everything here in Asheville, North Carolina, to the same standards." The Moog brand has changed hands numerous times in the past but was reclaimed by its founder Robert Moog in 2002. He passed away in 2005. Read Moog's statement in full.
