A new listening bar opened in São Paulo earlier this month.
Launched on September 13th, Matiz bills itself as the city's first venue of its kind, inviting DJs to play non-dance floor music. While the space is inspired by Japanese kissa culture, it will have a large focus on Brazilian artists. Local acts DJ Nuts, Millos Kaiser, Trepanado, Vermelho and DJ Magal were the first to grace the decks at the venue.
"We want everybody to feel like they're in a cozy living room inside a top-grade studio inside a bar," owner Yuri Mendonça told Resident Advisor. "You can sit comfortably and listen to music for hours, but [you can] also dance at will. Our intention is to provide a platform that hosts different art forms and give the artists proper tools and ambiance to perform their craft the best way possible."
