  • Future Retro's Vectra synthesiser is back in production. The synth was created by the Virginia-based company in 2021 but after around 100 were shipped Future Retro went out of business, citing knock-on effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following a change in management, it looks like they're back in business and, according to Synthopia and a post on the Future Retro Facebook page, expecting to ship Vectra synths again in November or December this year. Vectra is an unusual hybrid instrument with four digital oscillators, white and pink noise generators, four ring modulators, five LFOs, six envelopes and six types of filter. Much of that is controlled using four joysticks, one of which acts as a mixer so you can fade between four sound sources for classic vector synthesis. Before Vectra, Future Retro was known for a number of innovative products including MIDI controllers, some modular gear and analogue synths such as the 777, XS and the Revolution, which was a circular bass synth like a TB-303. No price has been announced for the new Vectras. The original ones cost $1,599.
