  • Arturia has released a recreation of the Roland TB-303. Called Acid V, it's a softsynth that works as a standalone instrument or a plugin for any DAW. It retains much the same layout as the vintage 1981 instrument but adds many features, including a sub-oscillator, vibrato and an arpeggiator. A pop-out panel adds new controls such as a bass boost, pulse-width modulation, cutoff range, pitch tracking and an attack setting for the accent. Acid V also comes with built-in distortion, featuring 14 algorithms recreating analogue and digital effects, plus a delay and 15 other FX. While there have been many software clones of the 303, this is Arturia's first. The French company has long been celebrated for making highly faithful and meticulous recreations of vintage audio gear—notably Arturia's V Collection, which features emulations of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, Yamaha CS-80, Korg MS-20, Arp 2600, EMS Synthi and more, many made with the blessing and participation of the original equipment manufacturer. Watch a video about Acid V.
Acid V is out now priced €99/$99 until September 14th and €199/$199 after that.
