  • Synth Swap Berlin has just launched. The platform enables you to rent a range of synths and music equipment from other users. You can also lend your equipment out through the service and charge a fee. Rentals can be for as long or short as you like and the service can insure all equipment that's rented out. The platform takes 25 percent of the rental fee; synth owners keep 75 percent. Right now, the Synth Swap team is handling the pick-ups and delivery in person, too, so they can get to know their users. The service is currently only available for people in Berlin but the hope is to expand the idea to other cities if it proves popular. At the time of launch, Synth Swap has a decent selection of new synths, drum machines, DJ equipment, FX boxes and modular gear, including a full Make Noise Black & Gold Shared System. Vintage synths including a Roland Jupiter 6, a Juno 6 and a JX-3P, plus a Fender Rhodes '73 Mark II will be live on the site from Monday. "The idea is to have a wide range of instruments and equipment available, from affordable synths that are available today all the way to vintage rarities," founder Miikka Paakkinen told Resident Advisor. "We of course encourage [everyone] to make listings if they have any instruments or equipment they'd like to rent out. Since it's a P2P model, anyone (in Berlin for now) can list items."
