  • A new listening bar is opening in South London. Launching in co-working space Market Peckham tomorrow, June 16th, Jazu boasts a bespoke sound system crafted by South London audio engineer Bosco Taylor and upwards of 3,000 records amassed by cofounder and resident DJ James Hanmer over the last two decades. A lockdown project, Jazu began as a three-day pop-up in East London's Franze & Evans Cafe, before relocating to South London's Corner Store in April last year. The new space is Jazu's first permanent home. "We're so excited to open Jazu again," the owners told Resident Advisor. "It feels like with each iteration we've been able to grow bigger, while also becoming more focused. We've taken the music to another level for our site in Peckham, upgrading to a fully bespoke sound system. These are the big, bad, horn-loaded speakers of our dreams, and we cannot wait to share." They continued: "In the run up to reopening, Jimmy found a Japanese phrase that we've taken as somewhat of a motto: shindō no ichibu. It translates to 'part of the vibration.' We had this etched into the side of the speaker cabinets as a reminder—to be part of the vibration." Check out more photos of Jazu.
