  • Ibiza is getting a new weekly party, with a focus on the deeper shades of house, techno, electro and more. Run by local radio platform OpenLab, Offbeat will take place at NUI Ibiza, a 500-capacity warehouse with a Funktion-One sound system nestled in an industrial park in Ibiza Town. The opening party, featuring Ralph Lawson, Cinthie and more, is scheduled for Friday, June 16th. "With OffBeat, we wanted to shake things up a little and offer a fresh experience, reminiscent of Ibiza's original eclectic vibe that has somewhat faded over the years," OpenLab's Quentin Chambers told Resident Advisor. Two more dates have been announced—June 23rd (Voigtmann, Doudou MD) and June 30th (Sofia Kourtesis, Dave DK)—alongside a raft of acts confirmed to appear throughout the summer. These include Powder, Ata, Erol Alkan, Manami, nd_baumecker, Nicolas Lutz, Optimo (Espacio), Paula Tape, Peach, Ivan Smagghe, Prosumer, Roman Flügel, Bobby., Call Super, Cici, Daniel Avery, DJ Masda, DJ Python and A LOVE FROM OUTER SPACE. "We've brought together revered cult selectors, some of who have grown disenchanted with Ibiza's clubbing scene over time, and paired them with some of the most exciting emerging talents, many of whom will be making their debut at OffBeat," Chambers added. "But that's not all. We've chosen a venue for the night that breaks the mould of what you typically expect in Ibiza." Launched in 2013 by dance music legend Robert Miles, OpenLab offers an alternative to the typical big-room sounds of the White Isle. It broadcasts online and on 106.4 FM in Ibiza and Formentera.
