A new record store is opening on the South Side of Chicago later this month.
Located on East Garfield Boulevard in the Washington Park area of the city, Miyagi Records will officially launch with a party on April 14th. The shop began as a passion project during lockdown, "then we decided to just keep on rocking once the world reopened," cofounder Nigel Ridgeway told Resident Advisor.
Ridgeway hopes to create a store that's "not only a place of commerce but also a hub for culture and community." He continued: "We remember when record stores were presenters of culture and that's a legacy we hope to continue with our in-stores performances, community events and monthly record show."
