Experimental artist Drew McDowall is releasing a six-CD box set called Lamina.
Out on May 26th via Dais Records, the collection includes expanded editions of his four latest albums on Dais—Agalma, The Third Helix, Unnatural Channel and Collapse—all of which have never been released on CD before.
There's also two new albums: one disc of rare stray recordings, modular oddities and rhythmic sketches (Undulations and Aberrations), and a disc of four live performances (Entanglement).
The title Lamina translates to "layer" in Latin, which relates to how McDowall put the box set together. "Compiling Lamina was a process of excavation that felt more like psychoanalysis than sonic archaeology," he said. "Digging into my archives felt like a mix of psychoanalysis and archaeology—uncovering buried things."
