  • Marshall Jefferson and Curtis McClain, who both worked on 1986 Chicago house anthem "Move Your Body," have reunited with a new single, "City Life." The pair return as On The House, the name of the original group behind early tracks like "Move Your Body," "Ride The Rhythm" and "Let's Get Busy." Back then, Jefferson was the main producer and McClain was the lead vocalist. (Two other musicians, Michael A. Smith (AKA Adonis) and Rudyard Forbes, completed the team.) On The House's records largely came out on Trax, the Chicago label that infamously failed to pay royalties to many of its artists, including Jefferson, Larry Heard and Robert Owens. Last year, Heard and Owens won back ownership of their original recordings, though received nothing in damages. Trax responded by blaming its former joint venture partner, Casablanca Media Publishing. Listen to On The House's new single, "City Life," which is out now on Jack Said What, the label co-owned by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh.
