  • A fire has broken out at Brazil's legendary Warung Beach Club. Social media footage shows a fierce blaze tearing through the popular Itajaí venue, which sits on the south coast surrounded by forest. According to news site g1, the fire began at around 10 AM this morning, January 22nd, and the smoke could be seen for miles around. It's unclear how it started or how much damage has been caused. No injuries have been confirmed so far. Opened in 2002, Warung is one of Latin America's best-known house and techno clubs. Last year, the open-air venue celebrated its 20th anniversary with Charlotte de Witte, Four Tet, Seth Troxler and more. Find out more about Warung in this in-depth feature from 2017. The company can confirm that the fire that occurred on Wednesday morning (22nd) has been contained by the team of firefighters and that there was no one on site at the time of the incident. Warung Beach Club reiterates that only material damage occurred. The relevant authorities are already investigating the situation and a new statement will be issued at 7pm.
