The partnership aims to safeguard the venue's long-term future.
London club The Pickle Factory will undergo interior and structural redevelopment after partnering with festival promoter GALA.
Scheduled for this summer, the renovations will centre around the addition of a second dance floor. There will also be improvements to the sound system and a refit of the bar, among other things. The club expects to close for a short period while these upgrades take place.
According to The Pickle Factory, the collaboration with GALA will help the club transition into its next phase, dubbed "Pickle 2.0." This transition has already started, in the form of changes to the security team, a new DJ booth and minor decorative work.
The club's booking policy will remain largely the same, aside from the extra programming that the new second room will allow. The venue will also branch out into early evening events, such as talks, workshops and listening sessions.
"It's a great honour to be the new custodian of The Pickle Factory," said GALA cofounder Jonny Edwards. "A club that already has so much cultural equity, community and its own space in the London scene. It's no secret these types of spaces are finding it increasingly difficult to forge successful futures. It's our job to provide the support Pickle needs not only to survive but to grow into one of London's—and Europe's—most cherished spaces."
