  • Surgeon will release his first album since 2018. Out on March 17th via Tresor, Crash Recoil spans eight MIDI-sequenced, hardware-reconfigured tracks that capture the spontaneity of the UK artist's live sets. It follows a five-year period during which he says he struggled to find inspiration. A nine-date Crash Recoil tour begins on March 4th. "This is not a live album, since it has not been recorded in one go during a live performance," Surgeon said. "In the same way that bands tour songs before going into the studio to record an album, I was able to explore these songs and hone their effectiveness during my live performances before creating a studio version." He added: "I can hear Coil, King Tubby, Detroit techno and The Cure all wrapped up with 30 years of DJing." Surgeon's last album was Luminosity Device, released on his own label, Dynamic Tension, in 2018. He has put out a handful of EPs in the years since, including The Golden Sea on Ilian Tape. Watch a video teaser for Crash Recoil, and listen to the opening track, "Oak Bank."
