  • Berlin-based mastering engineer Conor Dalton has put out a 7000-word document covering his mixing best practices. Dalton, who has worked with Daft Punk, Amelie Lens, Jeff Mills and many others, announced the document via Instagram last week. "Here's a bunch of mixing advice that I have been passing to customers over the past 15 years as a mastering engineer," he wrote. "All collected and formatted into the one place, updated regularly." The section headings include "What makes a mix translate well across many environments?," "How to achieve powerful mixes" and "Compression / Expansion: a rough practical guideline." Available on a pay-what-you-can basis, the document can be read online or downloaded as a PDF. Glasgow-born Dalton is the owner and head engineer at Berlin studio Glowcast Audio Mastering. His long list of credits also includes Marcel Dettmann, Ricardo Villalobos, Carl Craig, Andrew Weatherall, Maceo Plex and Ben Sims. Check out the document.
