  • Kali Malone has announced her latest album, Does Spring Hide Its Joy. Out next year on January 20th via Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ label, the album spans nine tracks and two hours of minimalism, modern classical and experimental ambient. It will be available in triple-vinyl, an extended three-hour triple CD as well as digitally. Written in 2020 in the empty concert halls of Funkhaus Berlin, the piece features O'Malley on electric guitar, Lucy Railton on cello and Malone on sine wave oscillators. The record focuses on non-linear composition and slowly developing harmonies. "Like most of the world, my perception of time went through a significant transformation during the pandemic confinements of spring 2020," Malone said in a press statement. "Unmarked by the familiar milestones of life, the days and months dripped by, instinctively blending with no end in sight." She continued: "Playing this music for hours on end was a profound way to digest the countless life transitions and hold time together." Does Spring Hide Its Joy follows Malone's critically acclaimed records The Sacrificial Code, which came out on iDeal Recordings in 2019, and Living Torch, which arrived on Portraits GRM earlier this year. Listen to "Does Spring Hide Its Joy v2.3".
