  • Honey Dijon received a lifetime achievement award on Monday, November 7th, from New York's Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art. The Chicago-born DJ and producer received the award, which was specially created by visual artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase, at the museum's 2022 gala. According to the press release, she embodies "Leslie-Lohman's guiding values of queer liberation and magic." Also honoured on the night was Jamaican-American artist, curator and art historian Margaret Rose Vendryes, who died earlier this year. Dance music guests at the gala included Kevin Aviance, Louie Vega, Midland, Chris Cruse, Miss Guy, Mike Servito, GIDEÖN, Ladyfag and Skin. There were DJ sets by Gant Johnson and Memphy. Established in 2016, the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art collects, preserves and exhibits around 25,000 objects by LGBTQIA+ artists or related to LGBTQIA+ themes, issues and people. The museum's founders, J. Frederic Lohman and Charles W. Leslie, first exhibited their collection of gay art in their loft in 1969. Here are some more photos from Monday night.
