Around 13 people have died following a fire at Polygon, a nightclub in the Russian city of Kostroma, multiple news agencies have reported.
On Saturday, November 5th, flames erupted indoors around 2:30 AM after a man shot a flare gun at the ceiling. The blaze encompassed an area of 3,500 square meters and took five hours to extinguish, Reuters said.
Authorities have detained a 23-year-old male suspect and are also investigating the club after discovering several evacuation exits were blocked. Officials didn't recently conduct a fire safety inspection for the venue due to its classification as a small business, according to ABC News.
