  • fabric is teaming up with the Museum Of London to become the "world's first" nightclub-in-residence in a museum. Announced today, the partnership will commence on October 25th with a one-night-only performance commission by Turner Prize winning artist Tai Shani, titled My bodily remains, your bodily remains, and all the bodily remains that ever were, and ever will be. (Down, skin, pelt, vellum, alert tangled roots, subcutaneous flesh, subterranean blind life). The performance will include a live score from Shani's longtime collaborators Maxwell Sterling and Richard Fearless. The residence comes as the Museum Of London prepares to close its doors at London Wall on December 4th and move to its new location at the General Market in West Smithfield, across the street from fabric. This will be the first in a series of collaborations between the two institutions. In 2024, the Museum will help fabric celebrate its 25th anniversary with its own exhibition celebrating the club's impact on London's nightlife and music scene. The following year, the two entities will co-curate a festival showcasing the restored General Market building alongside music, art commissions, food and other events. Then in 2026, fabric will formally begin its residence as the museum officially reopens in its new location in West Smithfield. "From DJ EZ to Jossy Mitsu, fabric has been at the forefront of the international electronic music scene for decades," said Sharon Ament, director of the Museum Of London. "As we embark on our exciting new journey, we are thrilled to join forces with fabric—our soon-to-be neighbours and one of London's most iconic cultural spaces." fabric co-founder Cameron Leslie added to that, calling the partnership "a significant moment for us in our journey to establish fabric as a key cultural brand and represents a core milestone for the venue as we move towards our 25th birthday in 2024. As well as communicating fabric as a core cultural space, we’re also on a mission to promote electronic music as an art-form. This new residency reflects this."
