  • Lawrence English has scored the latest Adam Curtis documentary series. Out today, October 13th, across seven episodes, Russia 1985-1999: TraumaZone tells the story of the superpower's transition from communism to democracy. English, who has worked with Curtis before, will release his five-track ambient score on October 28th. "The drafts of the films I initially saw were yet to be finalised and only recently I learned the title of series," wrote English. "This resonated strongly with me, as over the past three years I have been somewhat pre-occupied with The Zone, captured directly in albums like Field Recordings From The Zone and also my duet with Merzbow, Eternal Stalker, not to mention Approach, which by default dwells in a very relational terrain." He added: "[Curtis's] methods of approaching visual edits, sound design and structure, as a filmmaker, is something I have drawn greatly from." Listen to the opening track on Themes and Atmospheres for Adam Curtis's Russia 1985-1999 TraumaZone. UK-based viewers can stream the series via BBC iPlayer.
