  • Björk is launching a podcast with Talkhouse and Mailchimp Presents called Björk: Sonic Symbolism. Each episode will go deep on a different Björk album, starting with three episodes—Debut, Post and Homogenic—on September 1st. The Icelandic star will host the series alongside two friends: writer and philosopher Oddný Eir and musicologist Ásmundur Jónsson. "When I get asked about the differences of the music of my albums, I find it quickest to use visual short cuts," said Björk. "That's kind of why my album covers are almost like homemade tarot cards. The image on the front might seem like just a visual moment, but for me it's simply describing the sound of it." She added: "Most of us go through phases in our lives that take roughly three years, and it's not a coincidence this is also how long it takes to make an album or a film. This podcast is an experiment to capture which moods, timbres and tempos were vibrating during each of these phases." Speaking to the Guardian last week, Björk revealed more details about her upcoming tenth album, Fossora, which is out in autumn. She has since released the artwork and the name of the first single, "Atopos." On August 31st, Björk will appear on another podcast by Talkhouse and Mailchimp Presents. Spanning ten episodes, Listening invites artists to create and discuss an original composition. Find out more here. Listen to a trailer for Björk: Sonic Symbolism.
