  • Boiler Room is making its Pakistan debut. A livestream of local musicians and DJs from around the country is slated for Monday, June 20th at District 19, a venue in Karachi. Hosted by Ahadadream and Nabihah Iqbal, UK-based artists of Pakistani heritage, the stream features inter-generational talents such as Lahore-based ensemble Jaubi, known for their spiritual jazz and hip-hop renditions made with qawwali instruments, as well as 70 year-old Ustad Noor Bakhsh from Baluchistan playing the benjo, a traditional stringed instrument. Singers Natasha Noorani and Natasha Ejaz are also on the bill. DJs include Kukido and TMPST (who will play back-to-back), RBMA Tokyo alumni Tollcrane, up-and-coming producer Malik, Lyla and Infinity Records founder Ozzie. The event, curated by Boiler Room, Dialled In, Karachi Community Radio and Cape Monze Records, kicks off at 3 PM CET (7 PM PKT) on June 20th.
