  • Five organisations have teamed up to launch The Climate Gig, a tool for more sustainable travel. DGTL Festival, which took place last weekend, April 15th through 17th, in Amsterdam, is already using the tool. The other organisations involved are SkyNRG, CHOOOSE, Revolution Foundation and BLOND:ISH's platform Bye Bye Plastic Foundation. The Climate Gig is intended to help musicians and fans travel in a more sustainable way to events. This will be achieved using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and/or carbon offsetting. For fans, the platform calculates the carbon footprint of the journey based on the transport and final destination. You can then lower the footprint using the SAF and offset tools. Artists and venues can create a profile on the website and calculate and reduce the carbon footprint of entire events, including the wider staff, transportation, accommodation and more. "I love my career and am super grateful for all the places where I get to play and be a voice for change," BLOND:ISH said. "But travel emissions continue to be a big dilemma for me. I'm a climate activist and I want to remove single-use plastics from the scene, so I really don't feel at ease burning all this fuel to go spread my music. The Climate Gig is a perfect solution for me and I hope it gets a lot of love in the industry." Find out more about The Climate Gig on the website.
