  • Richie Hawtin, AKA Plastikman, has reworked his 1998 classic album, Consumed, with the help of Grammy Award-winning pianist Chilly Gonzales. Their reinterpretation comes in the form of a new record, Consumed In Key. Like the original, this version features ten tracks of atmospheric techno but includes new piano pieces composed by Gonzales. A triple-vinyl and digital release is slated for April 1st courtesy of Montreal-based label Turbo Recordings. Consumed is considered a milestone in minimal techno for its innovative use of light melodies and texture. "To hear Consumed, to hear the freedom in how it was made, and to hear the confidence within which it stands behind so few elements was almost like a threat I had to respond to," Gonzales said in a statement. Listen to the first track off the forthcoming album.
