If you like your electro and techno we recommend hitting up the terrace at Nocturnal for the AM Only party at the WMC.
AM Only is a North American DJ agency and this year's AM Only party will feature many of the DJs on the roster including Adam Beyer, who will spin alongside the likes of DJ Hell, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Josh Wink and more on the terrace at Nocturnal.
We asked Adam Beyer whether he thought the move away by techno many DJs and producers from more loop-driven techno had helped to make the sound more accessible, resulting in a lot more techno artists at this year's WMC.
"Yes, the fact that there is such a variation within the genre and it's getting played by a lot of DJs, and not only the techno ones, has helped a lot," agrees Beyer. He adds, "There is more excitement about good techno records than in a long time and there really is a lot of amazing stuff coming out, I believe it's the fastest progressing form of electronic music today."
Last year Beyer's track 'A Walking Contradiction' was picked up by Richie Hawtin's Plus8 label, and although he's been in the studio working on some more original tracks he says, "I don´t think it will be ready for the WMC but I´m working on some stuff and have some great ideas for the future."
Two new tunes to look out for in Adam Beyer's set are his latest collaboration with fellow Swede Jesper Dahlbäck, "As If Dubs", which will be released on his own label, Mad Eye and another untitled track which has just been signed to Sven Väth's Cocoon label.
Having originally set up the imprint Drumcode back in 1996, Adam Beyer's list of labels has since expanded to include Truesoul and Mad Eye. Although he says he won't have any new Truesoul releases ready for the WMC, other DJs at the AM Only party might be able to pick up the new Mad Eye release and a couple of Drumcode promos, which Beyer will be heavily promoting this year as part of its tenth birthday celebrations.
Adam Beyer plays at the AM Only party at Nocturnal on March 24th, 2006.
