  • A five-day radio festival kicks off on Athens station Movement today. Exploring the sounds, culture and identity of the region, Mediterranean Futures invites DJs, musicians, presenters and thinkers to a series of broadcasts running until February 19th. The likes of Deena Abdelwahed, Bill Kouligas, Azu Tiwaline, Muqata'a and Jay Glass Dubs will contribute music. The discussion and interview segments will feature writer Iain Chambers, as well as the station's producer Panos Hanjaras and artistic director Voltnoi Brege reflecting on the work of Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum, Greek composer Jani Christou and French musician Pascal Comelade. All shows will be broadcasted live on Movement and archived afterwards. The radio festival will also serve as the basis for some TBA offline events under the Mediterranean Futures umbrella. Find out more via the Movement Radio website.
