  • For this year's Black History Month Carl Craig is launching a video series called All Black Digital in collaboration with Beatport and Qwest TV. All Black Digital will begin on Thursday, February 10th, at 5 PM CET with an interview with Make Techno Black Again founder DeForrest Brown, Jr. The following weeks will feature talks with King Britt and DJ Holographic, plus an African special—about "how the rhythms of Africa permeated into Black music in the Americas, specifically techno and house music"—on February 25th with TBA guests. The same day, Craig will livestream performances from Constitution Hill in South Africa, with guests Villosoul, Gina Jeanz, Da Capo, Shimza and DJ Buhle. The concert will be co-presented by local music school Bridges For Music, which the whole All Black Digital series is meant to support via an ongoing fundraiser. "It's a great honor to return to South Africa and to perform in the motherland of my ancestors," Craig said. "The music I have been making, producing and performing for the past 30 years is an homage and continuation of what was born in Africa and runs through my blood here in Detroit." The conversations and performances will stream via Beatport's Twitch channel and Quincy Jones' Qwest TV platform. See the full schedule below.
