- The LP is out on February 9th.
Classically trained experimental artist Katarina Gryvul has a new album on the way via Standard Deviation.
TYSHA is out next month via the sister label to Kyiv club ∄ (AKA K41). Spanning ten tracks, the LP was written in lockdown as Gryvul experienced overwhelming feelings of isolation.
"The word TYSHA (Ukrainian for "silence") is special," Gryvul said. "Its interpretation is versatile, making it as immeasurable as its many meanings: silky, enveloping, but, at the same time, caustic, fractured and sharp. These meanings are reflected in this second album of mine, which I wrote during the pandemic—the greatest silence of my life."
She added: "I began to perceive people as more nuanced, but also, for the first time, I started seeing people as a potential threat. It made me feel torn between two worlds: virtual and real, and I felt like I did not belong to either. Subsequently, TYSHA explores this tension between two realities, between different forms of silence and feelings of uncertainty, not knowing where your place really is. The desire to get back to something that has already vanished."
Out February 9th, TYSHA includes remixes from Flora Yin-Wong and Maoupa Mazzocchetti. This is the ninth release on Standard Deviation since its launch in 2020.
