  • Echio, a new artist-led livestreaming platform, is launching today, January 18th, with a session from François X. Founders Tom Royer and Joakim Bouaziz (AKA DJ and producer Joakim) created the tool to directly connect artists with fans and to offer artists new revenue streams by monetising tutorials, talks, Q&As and more. The artists set the prices and keep 85 percent of revenue, with Echio taking the remaining 15 percent. Echio proposes two types of livestream: "Open Session" and "Workshop." The former is free to access and spontaneous, with fans paying to ask the artist questions and to upvote questions from other fans. "Workshops," on the other hand, are ticketed, with more of a focus on a specific topic, whether a production tutorial or a talk on how to market yourself. Fans pay using a token system. As well as monetising content, artists can receive donations from fans and can ask brands to sponsor livestreams. Echio says it will roll out some of these functionalities throughout 2022. In a press release, Echio said it's "committed to fair and transparent business practices. No trackers, no ads or followers chase." The first session on the platform, hosted by Parisian techno don François X, will start at 5 PM GMT. Lauer is up tomorrow, with DJ Tennis and NS-Dos confirmed for next week. Find out more via the Echio Instagram and website. Check out some screenshots of the interface.
