- The first release, out next week, is an EP from up-and-coming artist Bassil.
Tbilisi's electronic music community has a new player.
Shin Records is a label focused on emerging and established Georgian producers. Named after the Georgian word for "home," the platform officially launches on December 16th with the digital release of SHIN001 by local talent Bassil. Spanning four tracks of minimal techno, it includes a remix by Stef Mendesidis.
Founded by Newa and Kancheli, residents of Tbilisi club Bassiani, Shin Records was born from frustrations with the local scene. "There is definitely an insufficient infrastructure, not everyone supports upcoming artists and it is definitely a motive for us," Newa told Resident Advisor.
Building on the label's vision as a home for local producers, the artwork on SHIN001 by Tengiz Begoidze nods to a traditional Georgian feast known as supra. Through the label, "we share our meals with the world, inviting unknown and well-known artists to join us at our supra," Newa continued.
