  • FAUZIA is premiering a new live show and installation connected to her Somali heritage. Both projects are part of Purcell Sessions at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. The installation will run from midday on December 11th and 12th. "[It's] going to be an audiovisual experience focusing on connecting Somali music with my own influences as an electronic music artist," FAUZIA told Resident Advisor. "It'll be a generative piece that will constantly change, and it focuses on the idea of 'what if electronic music was directly influenced by Somali music?'" Also on Saturday, December 11th, FAUZIA will perform live with a band, though exact details of her setup are still TBC. She'll be joined by Dur Dur Band, a legendary Somali funk and disco act from the '80s. "Dur-Dur Band are a big part of my heritage and remind a lot of us of a beautiful time in Somalia," FAUZIA said. "I reached out to them ambitiously and didn't expect a response, so it means a lot to have them be a part of this show." Also locked in for Purcell Sessions in the coming months are the likes of Coby Sey X LCO, Gigi Masin and Nabihah Iqbal. Browse the full programme.
