- The soundsystem was installed by the Brilliant Corners team.
Manchester audiophile bar NAM has revamped its downstairs bar and lounge and announced a new musical programme.
The soundsystem at NAM, which sits in the heart of Ancoats, was installed by the team behind East London venue Brilliant Corners. Every Friday and Saturday night, DJs play from 7 PM through midnight, serving up disco, soul, Afrobeat, jazz, dancehall and more.
"Everything about the basement space—the lighting, the decor, the scent and most importantly the sound—is geared to providing an alternative communal musical experience," owner and director Nam Tran told Resident Advisor. "[It's] a world away from the traditional hedonistic abandon of clubbing, but an experience no less meaningful."
He added: "The combination of the Klipschorn speakers, a Conrad-Johnson Power Amplifier, and an Isonoe 420 analogue rotary mixer provides a level of enveloping detail that can make even the most familiar of records sound and feel completely unfamiliar. Expect to hear things seemingly hidden in the frequencies from these speakers that you will have never had the chance to experience before."
The weekend schedule will welcome DJs local to Manchester and some from further afield, including Danuka, Laura Jackson, acidhousedeathsquad and Talking Drums.
