  • New South Wales, the east coast Australian state that includes Sydney, will ease Covid-19 restrictions ahead of schedule. Sydney recently came out of a brutal 107-day lockdown, with a full reopening expected December 1st. Yesterday, the NSW government announced it would be fast-tracking the easing of restrictions for fully vaccinated people on November 8th, aiming to achieve a "world-leading" 95 % vaccination target. Starting Monday, nightclubs will reopen for dancing to the fully vaccinated. There will be no limit on visitors to a home nor any restrictions on outdoor gatherings with under 1,000 people. Entertainment venues with fixed seating will also be able to open at full capacity, reported ABC News Australia. The unvaccinated, however, will need to wait even longer—until either December 15th or 95% of the state's population is double-vaccinated—to take advantage of easing of restrictions. The NSW government hopes the move will incentivize vaccination within the state.
