  • The legendary Adelaide nightclub Sugar is calling for help after confronting financial struggles due to COVID-19. Venue founder Driller Jet Armstrong launched the fundraiser, which aims to raise $100,000 AUD. At the time of writing, the club, which has been a hub for house, techno and disco in Australia's capital since its opening in 2002, has collected over $70,000 AUD. Explaining the club's precarious financial situation, Armstrong writes, "We've worked in overdrive, consulting with lawyers, accountants, government officials, brokers and more in an attempt to open our doors for our beautiful dancers." "The ramifications of the pandemic have left us with no answers," he continues. "Know that we've done everything in our power to weather the storm but it's come to this. The sad reality is, the longer this continues, the closer Sugar is to sinking." In a recent update, the founder informs donors that the venue is now "coming back and would not have without your support." Sugar is slated to reopen on December 1st, when they'll host their first Mixed Tape night since March 23rd. Take a tour of the iconic club in the video below, and donate to Sugar here.
