  • A new play inspired by Poland's techno culture is coming to theatres. The inspiration for Techno Rzeczpospolita (or Techno Republic in English) stems from the 2020 book 30 Years Of Polish Techno Scene. The book, written by veteran ravers Artur Wojtczak, Radek Tereszczuk and Łukasz Krajewski, is an 800-plus page photo journal documenting the country's techno history. "The work of a DJ and a playwright are essentially similar," says Magda Koryntczyk, who adapted the book for the stage. "A good set has a good drama, just like a theatrical performance. I didn't know that the graduation performance Techno Republic would be something so much more than a diploma for students, that people would dance at it, cry, come up after and say 'this is my life, thank you.'" The play, which premiered on September 16th, is being performed by students at the Wrocław branch of Kraków's St. Wyspianski Academy Of Theatre Arts. More performances are scheduled for October and November. Head here for tickets. Watch the trailer and check out some photos of the play.
