  • TECHNO, a new exhibition at MUSEION in Bolzano, Italy, is now open. The show, the first in a new series called TECHNO HUMANITIES, will be showing at the modern and contemporary art museum until March 16th, 2022. Curated by the museum's director, Bart van der Heide, TECHNO covers three themes—freedom, compression and exhaustion—using the culture around techno and dance floor communities as a lens through which to explore modern human condition and social order. The exhibition pays particular attention to the local scene in South Tyrol, Italy, and has invited an international group of artists, theorists and producers to contribute works. "When it comes to subcultures, total immersion is fundamental," says van der Heide. "There has never been a part-time punk movement… Techno music has become the soundtrack of liberation and escape." Artists who have contributed to TECHNO include Matthew Herbert, Isabel Lewis, Nkisi and Samuel Kerridge. For more information about the exhibition, visit the website. Photo: Luca Guadagnini
