  • Composers Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Emile Mosseri are releasing a two-piece collaborative album via Ghostly International. First up is I Could Be Your Dog (Prequel), a 17 minute-long ambient work that spans seven tracks. Arriving September 15th, it uses synthesisers, piano, electronics and vocals to create cinematic textures. That will be followed by the second instalment, I Could Be Your Moon, in 2022. Mosseri, who was nominated for an Academy Award this year for his score of the film Minari, described the collaboration as an intuitive process. "It felt like we were writing music through one another," he said in a statement. "I first imagined we would both go more in our 'composerly' direction," added Smith. "I was pleasantly surprised that we created songs. It feels like a perfect blend of the composers we both are — that like to weave narrative song structure into cinematic arrangements." I Could Be Your Dog (Prequel) follows Smith's 2020 album, The Mosaic Of Transformation, (read our review of that record) and her Lagoon EP from that same year.
