  • Willem Twee Studios, a Dutch workplace for electro-acoustic music, has upgraded its already extensive synthesizer collection. In their May newsletter, Willem Twee Studios revealed that they have received, on a long-term loan, 23 special analogue synths from the Kunstmuseum Den Haag instrument collection. "Not only is this a recognition for our work," wrote Hans Kulk, "but it offers us the possibility to make the history of electronic music and its instruments available to contemporary musicians, producers and students as well." Kulk continues: "The instruments have been slowly fired up, tested and repaired with much care. Adding this top instrument arsenal to Studio 2 and 3 means we'll rearrange those studios. We can do that during the demolition phase of the buildings next door." Studio 2 is where Willem Twee mostly keep equipment from the '70s and '80s, while Studio 1 houses gear from the '50s. Located in Den Bosch, Willem Twee Studios has hosted numerous Dutch artists, as well as international talent including Blawan, Daedelus, The Analogue Cops, Kate NV, British Murder Boys (AKA Regis & Surgeon) and Terrence Dixon. The studios are available to book via the website. The Kunstmuseum Den Haag has around 3800 musical instruments in its collection, a small portion of which are vintage electronic pieces, such as an EMS Synthi A and an EMS VCS-3 II.
