100% Silk will celebrate ten years in the dance music business with an 11-track compilation, 2nd Life Silk, out in June.
Launched in 2011 with Ital's Ital's Theme 12-inch, the California label, a dance-focused sub-label of Not Not Fun Records, has since notched up over 130 releases and played a key role in the development of artists like Octo Octa and Maria Minerva. The tape showcases a new wave of artists, with 11 producers (or aliases) that haven't previously released on the outlet. These include Dublab affiliate Cafe Ale, Bay Area duo Loveshadow and Akasha System alias DJ Panthr, a milieu hailing from from "Saint Leonards to San Francisco, Portland to Pittsburgh, spanning deserts, everglades, and intercoastal urban jungles," according to the press release.
