  • 44 Tours, a record store and label based in the French city of Nantes, is showing its support for Myanmar's citizen-led protests via a new compilation. Milk Tea Alliance, due on May 14th, is a fifteen-track LP that encompasses techno, jungle, trance, electro and other high-octane club sounds. Featured artists include Berg Jaär, The Aux, The Black Anther, Marino and Kamen. It marks 44 Tours' first full-length project since the label launched in late 2019. The LP's name refers to an umbrella term that's used to describe pro-democracy movements in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Myanmar. In a statement, 44 Tours explained why it took up the cause: "By supporting them, we try to enlighten your faith in democracy. Whether it is fighting to obtain it or trying to preserve it in its most acceptable form, that is what unites us all." All proceeds from album sales benefit Myanmar's Support Civil Disobedience Movement Strike Fund, a fundraiser for workers that are currently striking and demonstrating against the country's military coup that took place in February. Listen to "Flaqui" by Berg-Jaär from Milk Tea Alliance.
