  • Ambient pioneer Brian Eno has started an initiative to help the music industry tackle its environmental impact. EarthPercent asks artists, companies and professionals within the music industry to pledge a small percent of their income to its cause, which will then be distributed to the most impactful organisations working against climate change. The process will be overseen by EarthPercent's advisory panel of scientists, politicians, climate experts and youth activists. "Many within the music industry want to do something to address the climate crisis but simply don't know how," says Eno, "which is why EarthPercent is working with scientists and experts to identify and fund the most promising solutions." EarthPercent is formed in partnership with music industry climate initiatives Music Declares Emergency, Julie's Bicycle, and A Greener Festival, and has a wide range of music industry personnel involved, including some from electronic music specifically. They are aiming to raise $100 million from the industry by 2030. Clean Scene recently published a report detailing the carbon footprint of RA's top 1000 DJs.
