Horst Hybrid Music Lab 2021 open for applications

- The series of workshops asks the question: How do we push our music culture forward?
- HORST Arts and Music is soliciting applications for the 2021 edition of its Hybrid Music Lab programme. The nine-day summer workshop, which runs from July 3rd to 12th in Vilvoorde, Belgium, presents talks from music professionals covering the ideas and concerns animating the industry today. Speakers include Underground Resistance's Cornelius Harris, Avril Ceballos of Cómeme and Futura Agency, and Unsound cofounder Mat Schulz. The programme comprises talks on the following topics: "Music in the 2020s: navigating a crisis and building a better future," "Afrofuturism," "The complexities of brand patronage in the arts," "Diversification is key: how to be financially independent in a niche music scene," "A critical look at media partnerships and the importance of independent journalism" and "The importance of (deep) listening and training your ear." Horst is offering a limited amount of bursaries to selected applicants, reducing the enrolment fee to €150 from €350. Horst "strongly encourages applications from people of colour, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ candidates and others who are underrepresented in the arts and culture sector." Apply here. Horst recently announced plans to hold its Arts and Music festival this September, booking over 80 acts.
