  • Nakadia's new autobiography reveals how she went from living on less than $1 per day in rural Thailand to signing with Carl Cox's Intec Digital label. Positive Energy: Becoming Nakadia is jointly written by the Berlin-based artist, whose real name is Seephrai Mungphanklang, and her manager Sebastian Lehmann. It details her humble beginnings in northern Thailand and how she quit school as a teenager to work at factories near Bangkok. After getting a job at an Internet cafe, she taught herself English and went on to meet Lehmann, who invited her to Germany, where she discovered techno. Following that fateful trip, she began honing her skills in Koh Samui where she eventually hosted Sven Vath. The publication also shines a light on the "constant barrage of musical, political, social and sexual prejudice that made it seem, at times, like her career was over," Lehmann said in a statement. In addition to Intec, Nakadia has also released with Filth On Acid, Get Physical Music and Codex Recordings. Her book officially arrives on March 31st, though a limited number of copies are available now. For more information, visit Nakadia's website.
