- Room40 will release Interreferences in March.
Richard Chartier's next solo album, Interreferences, will be released via Room40 on March 29th.
Originally a painter, the Los Angeles artist turned to working with sound in the late '90s. "I slowly came to conclusion that I no longer understood how to communicate sensation via a pigmented surface," Chartier explains. "Sound allowed me a language that was wordless, open, moving, shapeless yet full of forms, connections, and progressions."
In the years since, Chartier has built a body of work comprising dozens of albums, both solo and in collaboration with composers and producers like William Basinski and Taylor Deupree. Interreferences sees him return to Room40 for the first time since 2010, at a time where finds himself "at the collision of an inflection point and more over a reflection point. 50 years on this planet."
