  • New Orleans artist Dawn Richard, who makes music as DAWN, is officially part of North Carolina-based label Merge Records. The multifaceted artist is expected to shares details about her upcoming album on the imprint "very soon," according to a statement from the label. "This record has been such a cathartic experience," DAWN said in the statement. "To create an immersive story highlighting New Orleans culture through a futuristic lens has just been… a wild-ass ride. I'm stoked to take the wild ride with Merge, and hopefully the world wants to jump on, too. I plan to reshape the way people see and hear New Orleans. Hope you ready?" DAWN, who used to go by her full name, has previously released on Local Action. A founding member of R&B group Danity Kane, she was also part of the group Dirty Money under hip-hop label Bad Boy Entertainment.
