Joseph Capriati has posted a statement from his hospital bed in Caserta, near Naples.
The post went live earlier today, January 13th. Last weekend, the Italian techno DJ was stabbed in the chest by his father following a family dispute, according to La Repubblica.
"I'm alive, and thank God I can say that...," reads the post, which has been translated from Italian. "Until this morning I didn't even have the strength to speak, but doctors say that the worst is over now. I only ask one thing if it's possible, some respect for my father and family, as I and none of you have the power and duty to judge what happened. Family dramas are on the agenda, and especially attention to the press, because as you well know the news is often confusing and not truthful. I forgive my dad for the crazy act and pray for him so much. Now I think about healing."
Capriati's father, a former police officer, was arrested on attempted murder, La Repubblica reports. Joseph spent Christmas with his family in his hometown of Caserta after leaving Spain, where he normally resides.
