  • KORG is releasing an FM synthesiser called opsix. The Japanese company describes the 32-voice design as an "altered" FM synth, combining the intuitive editing of analogue interfaces with a six-operator digital sound engine. The operators can be configured in five different signal paths, providing routings for ring modulation, wavefolding and other synthesis techniques. The operators can be arranged in 40 algorithms and offer 21 waveforms each, which can be modulated by three envelopes and three LFOs. Their sound can be shaped by 11 filter types and 30 effects, and sequenced with a polyphonic, 16-step sequencer or arpeggiator. The opsix costs €799 and ships in December.
