  • UK artist Altered Natives, AKA Danny Yorke, has started a consulting agency called Trinity Black. Trinity Black aims to highlight the origins of dance music in what it calls an "undeniably whitewashed" industry. The agency will provide services to record labels, clubs and festivals who want to improve racial diversity in their lineups and rosters. "The absence of a framework that builds working relationships with Black, Brown and non-white artists of all genders and sexuality is one of the key problems in the music industry and has led to the lack of representation for those artists in electronic dance music," a statement on the Trinity Black website says. "Our team at Trinity Black will study our client's sound and genre aesthetic and match them with the relevant artists from our database. We will provide the client with a concise pairing to compliment and continue the label's and promoter's vision, sonically." Trinity Black will with approaching record labels—from independents to majors—and eventually move on to promoters and festivals. Current team members include Yorke, Ikonika, HE VALENCIA, DJ Flight and others. "This is the time for change," the website says, "but this can only be done by collaborative efforts between the haves and the have-nots that are both committed to the sustainability and empowerment of marginalised communities, whilst also returning electronic music back to its core foundation of inclusion and innovation." Potential artists and clients can make submissions here, and you can read more about Trinity Black and its mission here. Yorke has also released a new EP called Trinity Black to mark the launch of the consultancy. You can check that out over at Bandcamp.
