Melbourne venue Colour is starting a record label called Colour Club Records.
While the Carlton space has laid dormant as Melbourne weathers another six-week lockdown due to a second wave of COVID-19 infections, the team behind the club have used the time in isolation to ready their label's first release. VA001 features tracks from nine artists who have played at Colour including Mount Liberation Unlimited, Furious Frank, Escape Artist, Gallery B and Morgan Wright.
"Our primary goal with this record was to showcase the diverse range of sounds that make the venue so special to us—from jazz to fusion to early morning trance," they explain. "Additionally, we're trying to raise money to keep the venue afloat and get artists paid while they can't perform."
The compilation will be available on vinyl and digitally via Bandcamp.
